Most people believe that playing violent game is not good for the growth of the children because frequently playing violent game will result in the laziness in study. As we all know that everything has two sides- the bad side and the good side, as the human being, we know how to take advantage of the good side. Playing violent video games is the case. The current study shows that for teens playing violent video games is the way to train their brains to see better because many action video games require children to process and respond to visual information quickly and accurately, and to correct to improve their performance as necessary.
The recent study divided the game-playing teens into two groups. One played violent video games, while the other played The Sims 2. After playing 50 hours of the assigned game over 9 weeks, the teens with visual problems who played the more violent action games showed a 43% improvement, but the players assigned to The Sims showed no improvement. Why is there such a big difference between these two groups?
The video games enhance motor skill and reaction time. Among the above mentioned study, Action-oriented video games can improve the brain’s ability to process visual information. Until now, eye specialists believed that it is impossible to enhance this kind of visual sensitivity without medical intervention. However, the researchers suspected that there might be other virtues to these controversial games as well. These violent games are taking the brain’s visual context to the limits, forcing it to adapt to the added stimuli of the action games.
Anyway, a teen’s social skills may suffer from addictive game playing, but the effects on the visual system appear to be positive, the researchers concluded. As to me, my doubt is that visual improvement is more likely to be caused by the action in certain games, not the violence.
